REal difference between Anti-virus & Internet Security...

All the Security software companies have this categorization which confuses the users "What to buy? nd what is what".. the fact is they have a vast rate difference. thats y ppl think about it before buying.

Anti-virus:
It is a stand-alone application which will detect & remove the virus from the infected files.Earlier, these cannot prevent virus which is not recognized. Now the heuristics are added. Its a method which checks the files which has the behaviour of virus or not. Then it intimates the user if it has any such doubts. This detections are approximate and are not assured.

Internet Security:
It is a set of applications which is also a anti-virus softwares. These are generally expensive since it includes multiple packages like

• firewall
• anti-malware
• anti-spyware
• e-mail protectors.

the main work of the Internet Security is to prevent the threats via Internet. But its a combination above said functionalities which makes it more efficient than anti-virus softwares.

Website: No log-in.
e.g. www.yahoo.com

Personalization:
Portal: Limited, focused content. Eliminates the need to visit many different sites.
e.g. You type in your user name and password and see your yahoo mail only.
Website: Extensive, unfocused content written to accommodate anonymous users needs.

Customization :
Portal: You will select and organize the materials you want to access. Organized with the materials you want to access.
Website: Searchable, but not customizable. All content is there for every visitor.
e.g. you can navigate to yahoo mail, yahoo shopping, geo cities, yahoo group. If you wish to use any of these services you will either have to authenticate yourself and see things personalized to you or you can simply visit sections that are for everyone like yahoo news were if you are not signed in then the default sign in is guest.

• Home Premium has full Aero support, while Home basic only has partial support.
• Home Premium is able to create and join a home network, while Home Basic is only capable of joining.
• Home Premium is already equipped with the Windows Media Center, while the Home Basic is not.

Steganography Demo !!!

To try this demo you need a Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP/Vista computer. Please follow the instructions below.

1. Download and save the zip file containing the steganography tools and image files.
2. Unzip the file steg.zip into an empty directory. If you do not have the unzip program already, you can get one here .
3. Put a shortcut to S-tools.exe on your desktop by dragging it from Windows Explorer.
4. Drag the zebras.bmp file to your desktop. Do not make a shortcut. The file itself must be moved there.
5. Start S-tools.exe by double clicking on the icon on the desktop. A window will appear.
6. Drag the zebras.bmp file to the S-tools window.
7. Right click on the zebras pictures and select Reveal from the menu.
8. Fill in the 3-character pass phrase 'abc' (without the quotes) in two places. Leave IDEA as the encryption algorithm. Click on OK.
9. Wait until the Revealed Archive dialog box appears. This may take a minute or two.
10. Right click on any item and select Save As to save the file. Repeat for the other ones. These are the hidden files.
11. The file original-zebras.bmp is the file before the steganography was done, in case you wish to compare the 'before' and 'after' images.
