AR going to rock the world !!!

Today’s augmented reality (AR) will add floating text, symbols and 3D virtual images to a camera’s video feed to make it more informative or entertaining. Numerous iPhone apps like Layar provide local information. Tissot watches and Olympus cameras have webpages that let you experience virtual products. And Lego has a great point of sale display that lets kids virtually play with the toy inside the box they’re holding. You can even use AR glasses to experience this technology in a slightly more immersive, first-person point of view.
In the future, AR glasses will project images onto the lenses using components that are barely noticeable. Your PMC will display information on your glasses much like a heads-up display (HUD), for instance, with symbols projected along the periphery. Look at a symbol and say something, and your PMC will act on the broadcasted message. Your PMC will also do a great job of minimizing the information displayed, limiting it to just what you need to know now.

Facebook e-mail mess: Address books altered; e-mail lost

Facebook's new unified e-mail and its implementation is causing unwanted changes to users' address books; worse, the changes have gone unnoticed by users and vital communication is being lost.
An alarming number of people are reporting that the new e-mail address Facebook forced on users this week is changing their address books while intercepting and losing unknown amounts of e-mail.
Facebook users say contacts' e-mail addresses on phones and personal devices have been altered without their consent -- and their e-mail communication is being redirected elsewhere, and lost.

Google unveils Nexus 7 tab :):)

Google made its long—awaited debut into the tablet wars , unveiling the Nexus 7 to compete with Apple’s dominant iPad as well as the recently announced Microsoft Surface.

The Nexus 7, developed in conjunction with Asus, features a 7—inch (17.8—centimetre) screen, making it smaller but more portable and lighter than its main competitors, which both feature screens of about 10 inches (25 centimetres). That places it in direct competition with Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablet, which is by far the most successful running on Google’s Android operating system.

The Nexus 7 goes on sale for $199 effective immediately on Google’s online store Google Play, with delivery starting in the U.S., Britain, Canada and Australia in mid—July, Google said. That makes it far more affordable than Apple’s cheapest iPad, the older model iPad 2, which sells for $399.

Android upgraded !!!

Google unveiled the device at its developers conference in San Francisco, where the company gave details of its latest version of Android, nicknamed Jelly Bean, which improves major components such as touch, search, notifications and Google Maps.

Also revealed at the conference was the Google Q, a home entertainment hub that streams movies, music and other content, designed to compete with Apple TV and other entertainment hubs.

Google Files Patent On Peer-to-Peer Location Finding..

A new Google patent application has been filed for a peer-to-peer location service. This patent talks about obtaining “high-resolution physical locations for a wireless device by leveraging the high-resolution physical location capabilities of wireless peers of the wireless device to provide a peer-to-peer location service and facilitate location targeting.” In other words, physical distances between your phone and nearby peers can be used to get a more accurate position on your phone should your GPS crap out on you.
A data connection is still required, however, so if you’re lost in the deep woods of a rural area with no cell towers or Wi-Fi nearby, you may be up that proverbial creek, paddles nowhere to be found, banjo music getting louder.
Of course, a patent filing is not a product roadmap and Google may not ever introduce this concept to market. We’re hopeful it will make it in a future Android build to increase the accuracy of location finding in situations where Wi-Fi and GPS are unavailable or unreliable.

Sprint Guardian helps parents keep teens and children safe...

If you are a parent of a teenager – someone between 12 and 17 years old –  the odds are pretty good that they have a cell phone or smartphone.  Ensuring safe and responsible use of those mobile devices is a challenge for any parent. Sprint hopes to help with that with the availability of the previously announced Sprint Guardian solution. According to Fared Adib, vice president – Product Development, Sprint, “With Sprint Guardian, Sprint is giving families and individuals tools and information to better manage their wireless experience.”  Sprint Guardian is a collection of bundles of services – a Family Safety Bundle and a Mobile Security Bundle.  Sprint Guardian should now be available to customers with many Android powered devices via the Sprint Zone application on their smartphone.
The Family Safety Bundle is a set of services to manage family members’ wireless experience. The bundle  includes Mobile Controls, Drive First and Family Locator.  These services enable parents to oversee and control phone use, limiting texting while driving, and locate a child on an interactive map.
The Mobile Security Bundle helps manage phone security by backing up certain data so it can be restored to a new phone, locating lost phones, and even locking and wiping phones. These tools can help protect against identity theft, fraud, and the loss of other data.
The services do come at a cost though. The Family Safety Bundle runs $9.99 per month and the Mobile Security Bundle runs $4.99 per month (also available for $49.99 per year). For parents trying to keep their kids safe and using their mobile devices in a responsible manner, the cost may be well worth it.

Why HTML5?

why developers gear up to HTML5 and incorporate it in current projects too??

here comes the answer..

1) Audio and Video integration in html5

  • Flash was used by developers previously..Flash is buggy, requires plug-ins, has frequent updates and gobbles up power on mobile devices. Flash is going away on mobile devices-no more Embed or Object tags.
  • html5 technology allows developers to flex their HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills instead of using Flash or Silverlight. The Video and Audio tags perform better, too, which results in smoother playbacks and better power consumption, not to mention playback across all platforms. Finally, built-in support for captions and subtitles makes adding video and audio elements to a website easier than ever before.
  • Media elements in html5 comes as:
    • Video: Used to render video content.
    • Audio: Used to define sound content.
    • Embed: Used to insert, or embed, some type of multimedia content.
    • Track: Defines text tracks for video and audio tags.
    • Canvas: Allows for rendering of games, graphs and other visual images on the fly.
rest of the answers follows in my future posts :):)
